Radio Remembers: Murphy Martin; Sir Charles Wheeler
He was a member of the Texas Radio Hall of Fame with a storied career stretching back to the 1940's: Murphy Martin got his broadcasting start in radio, but was best known for his TV work in Dallas with WFAA-TV and with ABC Television, where he worked with young reporters Ted Koppel & Peter Jennings. Martin was also "The Voice of Texas Stadium" as the public address announcer for the Dallas Cowboys. He passed away just hours shy of his 83rd birthday ... Sir Charles Wheeler was the BBC's longest-serving foreign correspondent, spending 60 years covering everything from Watergate to the Iraq War. Knighted in 2006, Sir Charles was called "the pinnacle of our profession" by the head of BBC Journalism Mark Byford. He was 85.
