Radio Remembers: New York's Peter Shain; Minnesota's "Sandy" Sandquist
He was the longtime producer for the Joey Reynolds Show. Peter Shamin, who went by the name Peter Shain, got his start on New York City college radio in the early 1970’s. He worked behind the scenes as an engineer at a number of radio stations and networks, including New York City’s WABC-AM (770) & WPLJ-FM (95.5), WOR-AM (710), WNBC-AM, WQCD-FM, WNYG-AM (1440) in Babylon, WVIP-FM (93.5) in New Rochelle, NBC Radio Network and Westwood One. Shain passed away following complications of a stroke – Discuss it … He made his name on TV in Duluth, Minnesota, but got his start in radio. Lauren A. “Sandy” Sandquist first would work for WEBC-AM (560) in Duluth, before moving on to TV. He later returned to radio, working for a number of area stations before retiring, and taking a job with a local YMCA. Sandquist passed away. He was 76.
