Radio Remembers: North Dakota's Boyd Christenson; Arnold Stang

He began his radio career in Grand Forks on KNOX-AM (1310), and moved between radio and TV in North Dakota. Boyd Christenson was the “voice of the Bison” for North Dakota State University from 1964 to 1978 on WDAY-AM (970) in Fargo, and after another stop in TV, came back to WDAY to host the morning show for six years before moving on to KFGO-AM (790) in Fargo. A member of the North Dakota sportscasters and sportswriters hall of fame, Christenson passed away after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. He was 73 … Arnold Stang got his start in radio as a sidekick to comedian Henry Morgan. He then moved on to TV with a supporting role on Milton Berle’s Texaco Star Theater, and in the movies in “The Man with the Golden Arm” & “It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World.” Known for playing goofy characters, he was also a voice for a number of cartoons, including “Top Cat.” Stang died of pneumonia at a Boston-area hospital.
