Radio Remembers: Ohio's Stanley Coning; Indiana's Ron Muhammad
He was the owner and manager of WCTM in Eaton, Ohio when they signed on as an FM station in 1959, and later as an AM station in 1981. Stanley Coning even built and set up his own radio broadcasting towers. WCTM carried Cincinnati Reds baseball games, agri-news and was the first station in Ohio to broadcast Turner CNN. Coning passed away. He was 87 ... Ron Muhammad was a talk show host on WLTH-AM (1370) from 2005 - 2009, before moving to San Diego. WLTH colleague Tony Walker said of Muhammad in the Post-Tribune newspaper, "He referred to himself as the 'God of talk radio' and would get fired up about any topic about the city. He had a huge fan base." Muhammad was fired from WLTH after reading the names of suspects in a murder case - even after being ordered not to do so. Muhammad was found dead in his San Diego, California apartment. He was 62. Police are investigating his cause of death.
