Radio Remembers: Pennsylvania's Hal Fulmer; radio's "Tallest Singing Cowboy"

Hal’s first job was working at a McDonalds for $1 per hour. He would later own a string of 17 McDonalds franchises, along with an airport, other businesses, and radio stations. Harold G. Fulmer III bought WSAN-AM (1470) in Allentown, before owning nearly a dozen stations in Pennsylvania. Fulmer passed away after a long illness. He was 69. One poster on the Radio-Info Lehigh Valley board said Fulmer III “made radio and life interesting” … W.E. Lister became known as radio’s “Tallest Singing Cowboy” while working with Hank Williams, Jr. and the Drifting Cowboys. Lister stood 6 feet 7 inches tall, and worked for a number of San Antonio radio stations before moving to Nashville, where he performed at the Grand Ole Opry in the 1950’s. Lister, a self-taught musician, has passed away. He was 86.
