Radio Remembers: Pgh. sportscaster Nellie King; Wisconsin's Pete Holliday

He spent three years as a pitcher for the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 1950’s before eventually finding his way into the broadcast booth as an analyst for baseball games from 1967 to 1975. Nellie King also did morning sports reports for the Steel City’s WWSW-FM (94.5) and KDKA-AM (1020) for a time, as well as working for the Pittsburgh school system as sports information director for parts of three decades. King passed away after a battle with cancer and pneumonia at 82 … Peter Dean Lakin, known to listeners as Pete Holliday, was involved in TV and radio news for nearly 50 years. For the last 12 years, Holiday has been news director of Magnum Broadcasting’s WDLS-AM (900), WBKY-FM “Bucky Country” (95.9) & WNNO-FM (106.9) cluster north of Madison. Holliday passed away. He was 68.
