Randy Michaels at Tribune says the famous collection of 119 words wasn't a "banned" list
The Tribune CEO says he’s in the content business and the list that has become so sensational was merely “a collection of notes distributed by me to the attendees of the recent broadcast news directors meeting” – and which was then put out in the WGN, Chicago newsroom by the news director. From there, it was leaked to Robert Feder at Vocalo.org, and things have been at a boil since then. Today, Feder reports on the site that “for close to 30 minutes Friday, [Michaels] addressed a closed-door meeting of news staffers at WGN about the now-infamous memo.” With Michaels asking “what do you think should happen to people” who leak such memos. Among the attendees: GM Tom Langmyer, Tribune Broadcasting COO Jerry Kersting and WGN PD Kevin Metheny. Read Feder’s latest report about “the list” on Vocalo.org.
