Recently-launched WRXP, New York will get a new PD
Blake Lawrence stayed on after Emmis made the determination to blow up smooth jazz WQCD (101.9) in January and to debut a new adult alternative station named the "New York Rock Experience." Now Emmis says he'll be moving on and it's looking for a successor, probably one with deeper experience doing rock. Lawrence put in nearly four years at WQCD, and before that programmed smooth jazz KKSF, San Francisco. WRXP posted a 0.9 share 12+ in the Phase I Arbitrends out this week, as it begins to build the new station.
