Riverside's KSPA (1510) will dump talk for contemporary standards

change

Owner Art Astor tells the Orange County Register he will abandon talk to return to standards after the Christmas holiday: "The billings were not better than before. Then I lost Glenn Beck to KRLA and now Dr. Laura is leaving at the end of the year. And my observation was the topics were in one direction, mostly conservative talk people, and I thought they would be a little more diverse. I cannot compete with big talk stations." Another reason for the change back to music was listeners, who kept telling Astor they wanted the music back. Sometime in 2011, Astor expects to get his new technical facility on the air: 50,000 watts daytime, with 45,000 watts in the "critical hours" after daybreak and before sunrise. Current daytime power is 10,000 watts. Nighttime power will increase from 1,000 watts to 10,000 watts. The station will remain on 1510, and change city of license from Ontario to Chino. They're talking about Art Astor's KSPA on the Los Angeles Board of Radio-Info.com, here.
