RTNDA says radio newsroom salaries dropped an average 1.8% in 2008
As negative as that picture is – radio news comes out looking much better than TV, where news salaries fell over 4%. There’s never been a year when that happened, in the history of the annual RTNDA/Hofstra University survey of newsroom salaries. It appears as if the number of bodies was about the same for radio, between 2007 and 2008, and that the wage cuts mandated by many operators account for the drop to to a $31,000 median salary for radio news directors.
