Russell Penuell has been upped from APD/afternoon driver to PD at Cumulus’ WSM-FM (The Wolf), replacing PD/morning man Charley Connolly, who exits. Penuell, who goes by the on-air name “Russell P,” has a radio background that includes stints in Dallas, Fort Myers, Fla., and Shreveport, La. Beginning March 8, Rick Marino moves from middays into Connolly’s vacant morning co-host position, teaming with current co-host Deanna Lee. Marino, who has been working in the Nashville market since 1994, has had previous stints at four crosstown stations including country outlets WSIX and WKDF. The WSM-FM midday slot will now be voice tracked by KPLX Dallas APD/midday host Smokey Rivers.
