Ryan Seacrest remains on the short list to replace CNN's Larry King

Ryan Seacrest

As the search for the replacement to sit in Larry King’s interview chair continues, three names come up as the most likely successors. USA Today says that short list includes CBS Evening News anchor Katie Couric, former British talk-show host NBC’s “America’s Got Talent” judge Piers Morgan, and “American Idol” host Ryan Seacrest, whom King is backing for the job. Prior to his announcement that he was stepping down, the 76-year old King’s ratings have plummeted, falling below competitors Sean Hannity on Fox and Rachel Maddow on MSNBC in the 9pm ET time slot. CNN hasn’t announced any front-runner for King’s coveted slot, but has said it will make a decision by the end of the summer.
