San Francisco's KTRB (860) to flip to Spanish Sports on Friday
English-language "Xtra Sports 860" KTRB-AM (860) has been in receivership since last year, and lost its flagship station status with baseball's Oakland A's this Spring, when they moved to KBWF-FM (95.7). That soon led the former country "Wolf" to flip to sports/talk. Rich Lieberman's 415 Media site previously reported a leasing deal for the big-signal KTRB, and now Deportes Media LLC says it will take over operation of KTRB on Friday (6/24) and make it one of the largest-market affiliates of ESPN Deportes. Michael Sher becomes the general manager. He will have a huge potential audience, since the 50-kw signal fulltime signal of KTRB covers San Francisco, the East Bay, San Jose, Sacramento, Stockton and Modesto. Talk about the latest change at 860 on the San Francisco Board of Radio-Info.com, here.
