San Francisco's "Xtra Sports 860" KTRB goes into receivership
It stays on the air, however, unlike its family relation back in Modesto, KMPH (840). That station signed off the air two weeks ago. They’re owned by separate companies, though their relationship goes back several years, after Pappas Telecasting was able to move KTRB in from Modesto to the much larger San Francisco market as a fulltime 50-kw station. KMPH was conceived as its replacement for Modesto. The San Francisco version of KTRB debuted in the Spring of 2007 as a conservative talker and later morphed into mostly all-sports, with Michael Savage also featured. As of last Friday, it’s gone into receivership at the urging of lender Comerica. But the San Jose Mercury says the big AM station owned by Pappas Radio of California will remain on the air, and the baseball season will continue, with KTRB as the flagship of the Oakland A’s Friday’s release of the August PPMs puts KTRB at a 0.4 share with age 6+ AQH, in a tie for 40th place. The San Francisco Board of Radio-Info.com talking about KTRB here.
