Seattle-based Fisher finally sells its cluster in Great Falls, MT
The buyer is Howard Doss-run STARadio, which was previously active in the Great Falls market from 1988 until it sold in 2001. Fisher Communications began a selloff of its Fisher Regional group in 2006 and was mostly successful. The remaining market is Great Falls, and CEO Colleen Brown had continued to seek a buyer for the station group that includes news/talk KQDI (1450) and rock "Q106" KQDI-FM. Buyer STARadio is based in Quincy, Illinois, and we now learn that it began LMAing the stations on June 1. Closing is expected in the usual three-month time frame, in September. Fisher continues to own radio stations in Seattle: Hot AC KPLZ (101.5), news/talk KOMO-AM/FM (1000/97.7) and oldies KVI (570).
