Seattle police charge a former KVI promotion staffer and 14 others in contest scam
The 2007 “Secret Listener Salute” on talk KVI (570) was allegedly subverted by then-promotion coordinator Ryan Elizabeth Keeley, who picked winning names from among people she either knew or who were acquaintances of friends – and who then collected part of the prize. The Seattle PI has been following the case and reporter Casey McNerthney files the update late Tuesday, after prosecutors weighed the evidence. 14 people were charged wtih second-degree theft. Keeley, who helped run “Salute” around March 2007 and left that Summer, faces first-degree charges. The situation came to the attention of KVI owner Fisher Communications when a winner was contacted by a Fisher rep. Fisher reported the problem to the FCC and then to the Seattle police.
