Seattle's KVI (570) may be turning back toward talk

From today's TRI Newsletter: The 0.3-share KVI may drop oldies for a different flavor of talk, though not the conservative slant that it pioneered in the early 1990s. It was arguably the first major-market station to go conservative talk, 24/7. That position worked for years, even when a second right-leaning talker (“Truth” KTTH/770) came along. Earlier this year, Fisher Communications blew up what was left of talk KVI and mounted a locally-produced and locally-hosted oldies format. But Seattleites haven’t responded. The 0.3 share (age 6+ AQH) number in the October PPMs is typical of where KVI has been lately. Now comes word that syndicator Dial Global has placed its Clark Howard talkshow on KVI. Clark may be consumer-friendly, but not necessarily oldies music-friendly, and it certainly appears that Fisher is re-thinking its strategy with KVI.
