Sirius launches a 24/7 "Doctor Radio" channel

The venture with the NYU Langone Media Center officially launches today (June 2) on Channel 114, after a soft launch that Taylor on Radio-Info first reported on May 21. The Sirius promo line is "real doctors helping real people", and the channel will originate from a new studio built right in the lobby of Manhattan's NYU Langone Medical Center. Sirius says "doctors are minutes from the O.R., the E.R., and seeing patients, and can often be seen performing their radio shows in scrubs." The teaching hospital has committed to putting its expert clinicians and researchers behind the mic, taking calls from listeners. Among the shows: "Tales from the E.R." (hosted by Dr. Billy Goldberg, author of "Why Do Men Have Nipples?"), "Plastic Surgery", "Men's Health", "Women's Health", and "Cardiology/Heart Health" (featuring "two of the world's most prominent heart surgeons").
