Talk host Mark Levin threatens lawsuits against MSNBC hosts
The threat by conservative talker Mark Levin follows commentary by MSNBC host Chris Matthews where he claimed on his "Hardball" program that talk hosts such as Levin and Michael Savage created the climate of hate that led to the Tucson shootings. Matthews said, "People like Mark Levin, Michael Savage, for example, who every time you listen to them, they are furious. Furious at the left. With anger that just builds and builds in their voice and by the time they go to commercial they are just in some rage every night with ugly talk. Ugly sounding talk, and it never changes, it never modulates ... And I guess that’s the question. Why and is it ever going to stop if it keeps working?" Levin immediately countered on his show, vowing to legally go after anyone who tries to tie him to the Arizona shootings, saying "I'll place $100,000 on the table ... if Chris Matthews can find where Mark Levin has urged the murder of people who have different political viewpoints. I'm waiting for an allegation against me that is very specific because I'm going to sue," and later called Matthews "some a-hole on 'MSLSD' with no numbers, no ratings." He also singled out MSNBC hosts by name and said "Test me." You can listen to Levin's statement here. Levin isn't alone. An angry Savage also took offense at Matthews' statement, telling Newsmax the comments represent "malicious libel."
