The dance music on San Francisco's "Energy 92.7" stops for good
KNGY buyer Ed Stolz replaces the niche dance format with a mainstream CHR presentation named “The Revolution.” The early speculation on the Radio-Info Board about a 5pm changeover on Thursday were right. “Energy” went to static, and then around 9:08pm, Pink’s “Get the Party Started” inaugurated The Revolution. Ed Stolz is acquiring KNGY, Alameda for $6.5 million, and he just recently bought a mainstream CHR format from Beasley in Las Vegas, plus an FM frequency to put it on. The San Francisco Board of Radio-Info.com is holding an intense discussion about losing dance music and whether a mainstream CHR can compete on KNGY’s Class A signal, here.
