The guy with the KORB-FM tattoo on his forehead has trouble with the law
He made news when he became a human billboard in 2000 after Davenport, Iowa’s KORB-FM offered “a six-figure payout” to anyone who tattooed the station’s call letters and logo on their forehead. Not realizing it was a prank and thinking they could cash in, David J. Winkelman and his stepson both went to a tattoo parlor and had “93 Rock, the Quad City Rocker” permanently positioned on their foreheads. Winkelman and his stepson sued the station after they were told it was just a joke, but their lawsuits were dismissed. Now, Winkelman has new legal trouble. He was arrested for not appearing in court to answer a misdemeanor charge of driving a motor vehicle without the owner’s consent, according to Gawker.com, and Winkelman’s mug shot was released throughout the internet. Of course, the embarrassing tattoo he placed on his forehead was bad enough. Making matters even worse for Winkelman, in 2004, KORB changed their call letters to KQCS-FM (93.5), and changed the format from rock to Hot A/C, which meant even the station’s slogan changed. Unfortunately for Winkelman, his tattoo remains emblazoned on his forehead.
