The Sirius Canada & XM Canada merger should be done next week
The anticipated merger between Canada's two satellite radio operators is expected to close on June 21. XM Canada's parent company, Canadian Radio Satellite Holdings along with Sirius Canada have picked up their last regulatory and government agreement, clearing the way for the merger to be finalized. It was first announced in 2010, with both companies receiving shareholder approval this past February. The Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Communications (CRTC) signed off on the deal in April. The deal is valued at $520 million, including $130 million in long-term debt.
