The St. Louis Cardinals are going home to CBS Radio’s KMOX (1120)
Five years after CBS and the baseball Cardinals ended their 51-year association and the team went to KTRS (550), the team returning to 50-kw KMOX. The Post-Dispatch says Bonneville’s all-sports WXOS (101.1) made two pitches to the team, one of them involving sharing the games with KTRS. The team began receiving complaints about the signal coverage of KTRS soon after it became the sole local flagship in Spring 2006. The Cardinals team took a 50% interest in 5-kw KTRS when it did the deal, so today’s announcement takes the play-by-play off a signal that the team itself owns part of. Among the other investors in KTRS: sportscaster and NFL veteran Dan Dierdorf.
