There's a Clear Channel connection to the richest US lawmakers
The Capitol Hill newspaper “The Hill” put out its annual list of the richest lawmakers, and this year’s list has a direct connection to Clear Channel. In Congress, the richest individual is Massachusetts Democrat Sen. John Kerry, worth an estimated $188 million. His wife is the heiress to the Heinz fortune. California’s Republican Rep. Darrell Issa, who founded alarm company Directed Electronics, is worth $160 million. California Rep. Jane Harman ($152 million) and West Virginia Sen. Jay Rockefeller ($83 million), both Democrats, came in third and fourth. At number five is Texas Republican Rep. Michael McCaul, who was an attorney and a federal prosecutor before entering politics. Part of his $73 million net worth is from his wife’s investment holdings. McCaul’s wife, Linda, is the daughter of Lowry Mays, the founder of Clear Channel.
