Thursday’s Clear Channel webinar for staffers was cancelled
From today's TRI Newsletter: No reason for the cancellation, and we didn’t really know what the subject of the 3pm webinar was going to be. Presumably Clear Channel Radio President/CEO John Hogan had planned to address the new strategy in the medium and smaller markets with increased use of National Programming Platform shows. He was probably going to introduce the new NPP team. But instead, there’s just the press release, and a whole lot of worrying about how to cope with the personnel losses at clusters that were already running lean. One irony of the regional market RIFs – it turns out that former Iowa manager John Laton would’ve had to deal with a relatively small number of layoffs. But Laton had obviously had enough of the whole thing. He resigned as the Atlanta meetings were starting, and he’s already got a new job, with Adelante in Milwaukee. Speaking of resisting the cuts – why is popular WWNC, Asheville (570) afternoon host Matt Mittan suddenly off the schedule? He kept his job in Wednesday’s massive layoffs, but is he protesting what happened to his colleagues?
