Tom Leykis is free to return to terrestrial radio on April 2 – but he won't

Tom Leykis 2012 Leykis ("LYE-kiss") tells the Orange County Register that when his contract with CBS Radio is up this Spring, he'll return with a new live Internet-streamed talk show. In fact, writer Gary Lycan says the new show will be available "everywhere except on the radio." In an interview, Leykis says "I've had my tires kicked over the last few months, and I am having a hard time getting excited about joining in on the non-stop 'Obamacare' or all-politics talk formats that currently exist." The former KLSX, Los Angeles (97.1) personality says "the talk radio that is currently on the air in southern California primarily attracts an audience over 45, with a majority of listeners who are 65 and over." He says "It's just not what I prefer to be doing at the moment – our audience is men 18-44… men under 45 are still looking for talk shows that speak to them." His new talk show will be a live stream, with Leykis' New Normal owning all the ad inventory. There will be "continuous replays until the next show… apps such as TuneIn, Windows Media Player, Winamp, WunderRadio, even iTunes will receive the show." The Leykis site is BlowMeUpTom.com. The Los Angeles Board of Radio-Info.com has picked up on the Orange County Register interview and is talking about Leykis.
