Tom Severino, Emmis Communications' market manager for Indy, dies at 57

Severino spent most of his radio career in the markets of Indianapolis (on two different tours) and Cincinnati. He first managed WIRE, WXTZ and Network Indiana for Mid-America Media, then left to spent five years as GM of WCKY and its sister “Majic 92.5” in Cincinnati. In 1994 he went back to Indianapolis. He'd also managed in Norfolk at WFOG, and had done sales and sales management in Detroit (WRIF) and Chicago (WDAI). Most recently, he'd overseen news/talk WIBC-FM (93.1), country “Hank” WLHK (9.1), sports WFNI (1070) and soft AC “B105.7” WYXB, plus Network Indiana. The Indiana Board here at Radio-Info says he had been battling cancer for the last five months. Smulyan acknowledged that fight and says “Tom’s passing is hard for all of us to comprehend.” Read what the Indiana Board is saying about Severino, here.
