Tribune's WGN, Chicago carves out an 8:30am to 12:30pm shift for Mike McConnell

McConnell is moving from Cincinnati, where he’s spent years on Clear Channel’s “Big One” WLW (700), to Chicago. Today Tribune announces exactly where he’ll be working. It’s ending Greg Jarrett’s morning drive slot at 8:30 (instead of 9am) and splitting up the 12 noon hour to hand McConnell the new shift of 8:30am to 12:30pm. Current WGN (720) midday host John Williams will handle 12:30 to 3pm, leading into Garry Meier. WGN says that’s all effective August 9. The Chicago Board of Radio-Info is talking about WGN Radio now.
