Tucson's "Bob FM" changes identity to CHR "i97.5 – All the hits"

Cumulus Media's nearly eight-year-old variety hits Bob FM began teasing a format change on Wednesday and a noontime announcement Friday (2/3). The new format at KSZR: a CHR with a similar "I"- branding to some other Cumulus top 40 stations. The new i97.5 has a splash page with a listen-link. Cumulus market manager Ken Kowalcek says they'll begin with a 10,000 song commercial-free stunt. He calls it "a high-impact, concentrated sample of what 'all the hits' really means.'" Bob FM, on a Class A signal licensed to Oro Valley, Arizona, scored 1.3 to 1.3 to 1.6 in the last three quarterly Arbitrons, for age 12+ AQH share. The new "i97.5" will be challenging Clear Channel CHR KRQQ at 93.7. "KRQ" ranked third overall with a 7.7 share in the latest Fall book.
