Update: Sexual boasts behind WTKK's suspension of Boston talker Jay Severin
In a followup to a Radio-Info report regarding the suspension of talk host Jay Severin by Greater Media-owned talk WTKK-FM (96.9) in Boston, it appears that sexual claims made by Severin were the cause for him being yanked off the air. The Boston Herald reports Severin was discussing the case of American Apparel chief Dov Charney, who has been sued by a number of female ex-employees for sexual harassment. Severin, who defends Charney, referred to the women “whores” and “liars.” He followed that up by saying that when he was a business owner, he hired “mostly attractive young women” and boasted he had sex with a number of them, claiming "I slept with virtually every young college girl I hired to be an intern or an employee for my firm", according to audio of the show. “All I was was a young man who was the boss and I did it because I could.” This is Severin's second suspension by Greater Media since 2009, when he made national news by slurring Mexicans. This week, Greater Media says it has received complaints about the show in question and is investigating. Severin, who is reported to earn nearly $1 million annually, came in 16th in the February Arbitron PPM rating among 25-54 year-old listeners. Read more from the Herald regarding Severin's suspension here. In addition, Radio-Info has learned that Jay Severin Show executive producer Ed Oliviera has left WTKK and will join WPLR-FM (99.1) in Connecticut to be the executive producer of the Chaz & AJ Morning Show.
