Update: Washington station manager faces gun charges from Vancouver shooting

crime scene

In a followup to a story previously reported by Radio-Info, “Radio India” KVRI-AM (1600) Blaine, Washington station manager Maninder Singh Gill has been charged with five counts of gun possession, following the shooting of a rival at a wedding in a Vancouver suburb. Gill appeared in a Surrey, British Columbia court after turning himself in to Canadian authorities. He was charged with two counts of discharging a firearm with intent, one count of pointing a firearm, possession of a firearm for a dangerous purpose, and unauthorized possession of a firearm, reports the Vancouver Sun. Gill is alleged to have shot a man outside of a wedding in Surrey at a large Sikh temple attended by nearly 1,000 people. It is alleged the man who was shot was an associate of two men who filed a defamation suit against Radio India, which named Gill and several station reporters. The newspaper claims Gill and a Radio India host have filed a series of complaints with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police claiming they received threats.
