US News says "Mission accomplished, Imus may leave Fox"
Don Imus' contract isn't up yet with News Corporation's Fox Business Network, but Paul Bedard's "Whispers" column at USNews.com says they "appear to be going their separate ways." Fox isn't commenting about that. Fox Business EVP Kevin Magee does say that "Imus has helped us enormously and he has awhile to go on his contract." What Fox wanted in October 2009 was visibility in the pre-market-open hours for the fledgling business network that competes with CNBC. Bedard suggests that Fox has now grown to the point that it may want its own business-oriented morning show, instead of Imus' interview-heavy general talk show. "Imus in the Morning" is produced at Fox studios in midtown Manhattan, but it is basically the morning radio show heard on Citadel's talk WABC (770) in New York and syndicated by Citadel Media. Imus was originally cable-cast on MSNBC, but he lost that in April 2007 after his comments about the Rutgers women's basketball team. After he joined Citadel, his morning radio show was broadcast on the RFD cable network, and then he moved to Fox Business in the Fall of 2009.
