Washington Times' first foray into radio is news

The Times just launched a top-of-the-hour news service at hometown WHFS (1580), but plans are to syndicate the service well beyond Washington, D.C. The Times itself says they’ll focus on “national security, faith and family issues.” Executive editor John Solomon says “our take on culture and media is also original.” First affiliate is CBS-owned “Big Talker 1580” WHFS, which features personalities such Glenn Beck, Michael Smerconish, Fred Thompson, Lou Dobbs and Dr. Laura Schlessinger. Coming soon from the Washington Times – a long-form morning news/talk show done with Talk Radio Network. It’s designed to showcase some of the paper’s reporters, again focusing on national security (terrorism, border security, immigration) and “the culture wars.”
