"WGBC-FM, Lakeland, Florida" is a pirate, says the FCC
Frankie Grover was operating his FM station at 87.9 with a website, window stickers, and a studio at the Kingston Lakeside Inn. His car also had the personalized license plate of “WGBC 1” – as observed by FCC field agents last year. The Commission originally fined him $10,000 for operating an unlicensed station, but has reduced that $2,500 after reading his statement about “inability to pay.” Meanwhile, Grover continues to operate his “SouthernSoul” website, also named WGBC FM, here. Read the FCC’s forfeiture order here.
