Today at 5 pm ET, Radio One is expected to announce what it is planning on doing on its signal – 107.9 in Philadelphia, the former home of Urban AC WRNB. Radio One moved the Urban AC format over to the 100.3 signal yesterday, which previously was the home to co-owned urban WPHI, “Philly’s Beat.” The Radio-Info.com boards have speculated that the 107.9 frequency would be the new home to a younger, more hip-hop heavy urban called “Hot 107.9,” and will be anchored by the syndicated Rickey Smiley show in mornings. We’ll find out – at 5 pm today.
