Woman swims 2-1/2 miles in an attempt to save an Australian community radio station
If Sir Richard Branson didn’t know Australia’s FBi Radio (94.5) existed, he does now. An unidentified woman swam to Branson’s private island in the Bahamas, a distance of 2-½ miles, to ask the billionaire to help the Sydney-based community station, which is facing possible closure due to low donations. The station has been holding an “Ask Richard” contest to highlight the station’s plight. While Branson declined the $1 million request, he did offer FBi some Virgin Atlantic Airlines tickets and V Festival tickets as prizes to raise money. Australia’s News.com.au reports the woman, wearing only a bikini, had dinner with Branson and stayed the night following her swim over to his island.
