WTAQ host Jerry Bader publicly apologizes, but his job still hangs in the balance
Bader was suspended for two weeks by Green Bay’s WTAQ-AM (1360), after he posted a podcast suggesting the reason Democratic Lt. Gov. Barbara Lawton dropped out of the race for governor was due to marriage troubles. Lawton angrily denied those charges, and WTAQ retracted the story. The conservative Bader wrote on his blog his apology was accepted by Lawton, but this will not end the problems for Bader. Lawton has said publicly that the two-week suspension for Bader isn’t enough, and says Bader’s comments are an example of talk radio being dominated by “irresponsible, inflammatory rhetoric.” As for Bader’s immediate future, WTAQ GM Duke Wright tells Gannett newspapers, “He might not be back on, and he might.”
