WTOP's Jim Farley joins the AP Managing Editors, breaking a barrier
The Associated Press Managing Editors (APME) has added Washington D.C.'s all-news WTOP-FM (103.5) Vice President of News and Programming Jim Farley to its membership, and also nominated Farley to the board of directors. Says Farley, "It is exciting to be the first broadcaster ever to join APME's illustrious ranks and I look forward to offering my support and expertise in the future as part of the board of directors, as we strive to protect journalistic integrity in newsrooms across the country." Farley got his start in radio in the 1960's as a copy runner for New York's WINS-AM (1010), and now oversees programming at Washington's top-rated radio station - which is also America's top billing station.
