Radio-Info.com was founded in 1999 as a radio discussion forum by Doug Fleming – and has survived his tragic death in 2005 to become “Radio’s Online Community.” It’s built on the popular message-board framework Doug created and today provides both radio professionals and fans a valued source for news, expert commentary and the lively industry gossip that radio thrives on. With online traffic growing rapidly, and Radio-Info quoted by the top news organizations in America when they’re writing about radio – we think Doug would be proud of what he started.
In 2006, inspired by their son’s passion for the radio industry and committed to honoring his legacy, Diana and Rick Fleming devised an ambitious new business model for a media company that would move well beyond the original web-based discussion board concept. Envisioning a comprehensive, “online community” for all those in radio, they decided to complement the discussion boards with breaking industry news. In addition, they initiated an innovative programming project that allows for efficient moderation of hundreds of discussion forums with thousands of posts each day. To fund their plan, on-line advertising was introduced. Ultimately, the profit from this venture will be donated to various charitable organizations in Doug Fleming’s honor.
Implementation of their new business model began in April of 2006 with several significant steps. Reprogramming began to accommodate the new sections that would link to the discussion forums. Writers were hired and a sales staff began the search for advertising clients. In May of 2006, in3media, inc., was formally incorporated in Illinois, the company’s name emphasizing three tenets vital to their fledging media company: intelligence, intuition, and integrity. Diana Fleming took the helm as President and CEO of in3media, inc., and Rick Fleming assumed the role of Secretary and Treasurer.
In 2007, veteran broadcast journalists Tom Taylor and Dana Hall were hired and Radio-Info.com launched the daily e-newsletter Taylor On Radio-Info. In just over a year, it has become a staple on the desks and in the email in-box, for thousands of broadcast and related industry professionals, including radio’s top management leaders and decision makers.
Most recently, Radio-Info.com has launched a new, updated look with unique and helpful tools not offered by any other broadcast industry trade website, along with additional content and sections to better serve the user. In the future, we will be expanding in other areas, including engineering, business, and programming. These new sections will bring together more detailed information, in depth analysis, and a variety of opinions and knowledge about our industry, to help make Radio-Info.com, the ultimate radio resource.
