First Listen: WNNF (Journey 94.1) Cincinnati

WNNF Cincinnati as Journey One of the most interesting things about Cumulus’ new Journey 94.1 Cincinnati, the former WNNF (Frequency 94.1) is that it’s co-owned with successful Mainstream AC WRRM (Warm 98) and heritage Oldies/Greatest Hits outlet WGRR. That makes for a pretty tight landscape—with Oldies stations sounding a lot like ’70s-based AC these days, it’s not so easy to just let the Mainstream AC be older.

And yet it is possible to see differences in the three stations. WRRM evolved earlier this year and is noticeably softer than the new WNNF, which is covering roughly the same ’80s-through-now era as WWFS (Fresh 102.7) New York, but with a little more ’80s depth and a little less edginess at the recurrent/current edge.

Here’s Journey 94.1 at its 9:41 launch from Friday (20):

Journey, “Don’t Stop Believin’” (a popular launch song, also heard in the first hour or so of the new CIGY [Up 97.7] Calgary)
