Fresh Listen: WBMX (Mix 104.1) Boston
News broke on the Radio-Info message boards last week that Adult Top 40 WBMX (Mix 104.1) Boston had repositioned itself as “The Best Mix of the ’90s, 2000s and Now,” making it the latest Hot AC to steer away from the ’80s—once a significant part of the station.
The move takes WBMX further toward very successful and adult-friendly Mainstream Top 40 WXKS (Kiss 108). It comes at a time when the station is giving away a Prius as part of its “30 Days of Bon Jovi” contest; (“Living On A Prayer” does seem to still have a pass on the radio station as one of the few extant '80s songs).
Here’s a very uptempo hour or so of the station at 9:15 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 4:
Chumbawamba, “Tubthumping”
Pink, “Raise Your Glass”
Fray, “Over My Head (Cable Car)”
Maroon 5, “Misery”
Christina Aguilera, “Dirrty”
Bon Jovi, “What Do You Got”
Katy Perry, “California Gurls”
Jimmy Eat World, “The Middle”
Nickelback, “How You Remind Me”
Taio Cruz, “Dynamite”
Train, “Drops Of Jupiter (Tell Me)”
Taylor Swift, “Mine”
Verve, “Bittersweet Symphony”
Kings Of Leon, “Use Somebody”
