Train Tops Hot AC, 25+ Hits Year-End Chart; AC Needed Lady Antebellum In 2010

Train's "Hey, Soul Sister" wasn't just a surprising comeback for its veteran band in 2010, it was the record of the year for Hot AC radio and for adult-leaning Top 40 stations. "Hey Soul Sister" led the first year-end tally at Hot AC and the new 25+ Hits chart that combines similarly minded Mainstream Top 40 and Adult Top 40 stations.

But Lady Antebellum's "Need You Now" held "Hey, Soul Sister" to No. 2 at Mainstream AC – a major accomplishment given Train's many weeks at No. 1 themselves. The charts are compiled by Mediaguide in conjunction with Radio-Info's new 25+ newsletter targeting adult radio.

The new 25+ Hits panel reflects the changing nature of the Adult Top 40 format – at least four of the songs in the top 10 of that chart could be classified as Rhythmic Pop. And Eminem's groundbreaking "Love The Way You Lie," a record that got surprise airplay at some Hot ACs this year, was the No. 43 record of the year for the 25+ Hits panel.
