‘Music City Roots’ Moves To New Station Home, Signs First Affiliates

The weekly Americana music show “Music City Roots: Live From The Loveless Cafe” is changing station affiliation from classic country WSM-AM Nashville to crosstown Triple-A WRLT (Lightning 100). The change takes effect with the show’s first anniversary broadcast on Oct. 20. Concurrent with the change, original host Eddie Stubbs of WSM will be replaced by Keith Bilbrey, a former WSM air personality and Grand Ole Opry announcer. He’ll be joined each week by musician Jim Lauderdale and journalist Craig Havighurst. The show continues to broadcast live over the air and online on Wednesday nights from 7-9 p.m. (CT).

According to a press release, the move to WRLT “will give Music City Roots a stronger, higher-fidelity FM signal in its home market, as well as access to a larger, younger and more diverse audience.” The show has already signed on several syndication affiliates, and it will reportedly begin distribution this fall to those stations, which have not been disclosed.

In addition, the show will continue to grow its new, professionally produced, multi-camera HD broadcast, streamed free to thousands of fans worldwide in an exclusive distribution relationship with Livestream.com.

Artists who have appeared on the show in its first year include Emmylou Harris, Sam Bush, Ricky Skaggs, Mountain Heart, Cherryholmes, Roger McGuinn and many others. Its sponsors include French’s Boots, Vietti Chili, Honest Abe Log Homes, Ascend Federal Credit Union and The Nature Conservancy.
