New Generation Programming Now ‘In Suspended Animation’

Chuck Geiger has exited New Generation Programming, a radio consulting and programming company he launched with Chip Miller in early January. Geiger, who had been the firm’s managing partner and president of programming, reports “the time is not right for something like this” and the company has been put “in suspended animation for the time being.” Miller was the company’s other managing partner and its president of operations. The company’s staff also included radio veteran Mary Befera, who was hired as national director of affiliate sales in late January.

The company had planned to specialize in the country, classic rock/classic hits, AC and CHR formats. In addition to traditional consulting services, Geiger and Miller had planned to offer clients a turn-key localized radio station with custom music, jocks and local imaging. Geiger is the former PD for such stations as KHGE Fresno, Calif.; KZSN Wichita, Kan.; WCTO Allentown, Pa.; and, most recently, KTTI Yuma, Ariz. He also authors the country programming blog Full Throttle Country, but says he’s now “pondering what to do” with the blog. Miller has programmed WYCD Detroit and WGKX Memphis and is the former CEO of Southern Star Broadcasting.
