On The Row: Changes At Big Machine, UMG, Warner Music Group, Sony, Quarterback and More

•At Big Machine Label Group, Many McCormack has been promoted to the newly created position of national director, radio marketing. She will work with senior director, new media and national promotion strategy John Zarling in managing national promotion campaigns for artists on the Big Machine and Valory Music rosters. She has been with Big Machine since 2005, most recently as senior representative of West coast promotion and marketing, a position she was promoted to in January.

Filling McCormack’s West Coast regional duties effective today is Kris Lamb, who most recently held the same role at Lyric Street Records. He will report to Big Machine Records VP/Promotion Jack Purcell. Lamb had experience at KMLE Phoenix prior to his five years with Lyric Street, where he previously worked with Rascal Flatts, now signed to Big Machine.

•Quarterback Records has hired Bill Lubitz as director of promotion, West Coast/Southwest, effective today. Lubitz most recently was West coast regional for Stoney Creek Records. He is a 10-year radio veteran, most recently serving as MD for KWNR Las Vegas. He replaces Jim Dandy, who recently joined the promotion team at Cold River Records. •Universal Group MusicNashville has expanded its staff with the promotion of Joe Putnam to VP of national promotion and the appointment of Michelle Tyrrell to director of promotion/Northeast for MCA Nashville. In his new role, Putnam will work with both the MCA Nashville and Mercury Nashville labels. Most recently, he served as senior director of promotion for the company. He reports to senior VP of promotion Royce Risser. Tyrrell joins MCA from Lyric Street Records, where she served as Midwest director of regional promotion. She will report to Van Haze, VP of promotion for MCA.

• Sony Music Nashville and 19 Recordings have signed this year’s “American Idol” third place finalist Casey James, a native of Cool, Texas. He has been assigned to Sony’s BNA imprint. The musician and singer/songwriter has been fronting the Casey James Band since 2008. James is currently on the American Idols Live! Tour 2010, and will soon be at work on his debut album, releasing next year.

•Record promotion veteran Mark Niederhauser (pictured) joins the Warner Music Nashville (WMN) promotion team as Southwest regional promotion manager starting Sept. 7. He arrives from Wind-Up Entertainment where he has worked since 2004, and has more than 30 years of pop promotion experience. He is based in Denver and will report to VP of promotions Bob Reeves. • The Writer’s Den Music Group has signed songwriter Ronnie Rogers to its roster, which also includes Tami Hinesh, Adam Wright, Trent Jeffcoat, Bonnie Bishop and Ben Cooper. Rogers is an award winning songwriter and a native Nashvillian whose songs have been cut by George Strait, Alabama, Brooks & Dunn, Toby Keith, Gary Allan, Dierks Bentley, Ray Charles, Lee Ann Womack, as well as Laura Bell Bundy’s current single, “Drop On By.” His hits include “Only In America,” “Dixieland Delight,” “Goin’ Through the Big D” and many other country hits.
