Scott Shannon Adds Groupwide Responsibilities At Citadel's Major Market Stations
Scott Shannon will continue as the PD at Citadel hot AC WPLJ New York (95.5) and as the creator/producer of Citadel Media’s True Oldies Channel, now clearing on 66 stations. Citadel CEO Farid Suleman calls Shannon “one of the pre-eminent radio programming talents in the industry” and names him VP of programming for the big-market stations. Citadel’s Los Angeles manager Bob Moore says Shannon’s been working with classic rock KLOS (95.5) and “has been the architect of the new direction at KLOS, which has propelled the station to its highest ratings in the past 20 years.” Shannon took New York’s Z100 from “worst to first” in the 1980s, later programmed “Pirate Radio” KQLZ in Los Angeles and came back to New York in 1991 to do mornings at and program WPLJ.
