Zarling Earns VP Stripes At Big Machine Label Group
John Zarling has earned VP stripes at Big Machine Label Group, where he is promoted to VP/promotion and media strategy for the company's three labels, Big Machine Records, The Valory Music Co. and Republic Nashville. He previously was senior director/new media and promotion strategy for Big Machine and Valory. He has been with Big Machine since its launch in 2005.Zarling will continue to direct national promotion campaigns for the labels' artists across a multiple outlets. In his expanded role, he will also work with the Republic Nashville imprint in crafting multi-media opportunities in addition to continuing that role for Big Machine Records an Valory. Mandy McCormack, Big Machine Label Group’s national director/radio marketing, will continue to report to Zarling.Prior to Big Machine, Zarling spent six years at UMG Nashville. Originally joining Mercury Records in September 1999 as mailroom supervisor, he joined the Mercury radio promotion department in 2001 and was elevated to manager, charts and syndication for the MCA, Mercury and DreamWorks imprints in 2004. Zarling previously worked at Decca Records, MusicRow, and The Press Network in the late 1990s.
