Alpha Broadcasting isn't done buying radio stations, says Time Magazine

Wilson paid $40 million for the CBS Radio cluster in Portland, Oregon in August on top of $11 million to Paul Allen for two other stations there. Alpha Broadcasting founder Larry Wilson believes there is a future in terrestrial radio, so much so he’s planning to expand. Time Magazine reports that Wilson, who started Citadel Broadcasting with two Tucson, Arizona stations in 1984 and who sold the company in 2001 for $2 billion, is planning ahead. Wilson “hopes to buy another station in Portland, and when revenues hit $10 million, he'll go after another city in the West.” Since taking over the Portland cluster, Alpha Broadcasting has announced they're changing the morning show on KUPL-FM (98.7), brought in a new PD and on-air staff for KUFO-FM (101.1), including former Philadelphia WYSP morning man Kidd Chris, hired a new evening DJ for KINK-FM (101.9), turned KCMD-AM into “Freedom 970”, and brought in a new team of managers, just in a few short months.
