Station sale in St. Louis, for "urban sports and talk" WFFX (1490)

Seller is Simmons Media Group and the buyer is the local Entertainment Media Trust, headed by Dennis Watkins. WFFX, East St. Louis, IL will be its fourth AM station in the Gateway City area, and it has 1-kw fulltime at 1490. Its current lineup features Richard “Onion” Horton, 6-9am. Price is $450,000 cash, and the brokers are Greg Guy and Larry Patrick for seller Simmons Media, and John Pierce for buyer Entertainment Media Trust. Its other current stations are classic country/talk WXOZ at 1510 and “Hot Talk and Cool Oldies” KZQZ at 1430. It’s in the process of buying KRFT-AM (1190) from Big League Broadcasting for $600,000.
