Clear Channel pulled the plug on alternative music, and flipped the switch to CHR as “Baltimore’s New Hit Music Channel” on WCHH-FM (104.3). Also swept out in the changes is Washington’s WWDC-FM (101.1) Elliot Segal’s morning show, that had been simulcast in Baltimore. WCHH has seen a number of changes in the last 18 months, switching from smooth jazz to modern rock in May 2008, the same month it changed call letters from WSMJ to WCHH. A finger could be pointed at ratings – it lagged far behind Baltimore’s “98 Rock.” The discussion of the loss of alternative rock in Baltimore has already begun on the Radio-Info boards.
